Founders of the company, Tereza Huclova and Mohamed Baabi, have been friends since 2012 when they met each other in Toubkal. They share a passion for mountains & countryside, different cultures and of course for Morocco. With each of them having a different professional background they decided to combine skills and create a tour agency which would meet the needs of its particular client base with particular emphasis on program flexibility and respect for the local culture and people.

MEET TEREZA...

... who answers all your questions and emails, prepars original itineraires and makes sure that the world is well informed about BerberTrekking.com and that the money is coming in and going out on time.

Born in Pilsen, Czech Republic Tereza´s biggest passion has always been travelling, learning languages and meeting people from all over the world. During her studies, she lived in several countries and speaks English, German, French, Spanish and of course Czech. She had worked 7 years for a bank in Düsseldorf before she decided to explore more of Morocco, a country that she has liked for a long time for its well humoured people, “no problem” culture and sunny weather. With a certificate as Teacher of German as Foreign Language in her pocket Tereza moved to Fez where she spent couple of wonderful months teaching in a private German centre. Having explored all the streets of the Medina in Fez Tereza moved again, this time to Marrakech, to enjoy a bit more of the hiking paradise in Toubkal National Park and especially to start BerberTrekking.com with her friend. Tereza loves to run, cycle and camp and for the moment also to fix her new home in the ancient Medina.

MEET MOHAMED...

... who will take you safely through the country, introduce to local people and their traditions and make sure that everything on tour goes smoothly just as you wish.

Born in Toubkal Valley Mohamed has been working in tourist businesses for the last 15 years. He is a certified tour guide and a graduate of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Skiing and Mountaineering. He speaks 4 languages: Berber, Arabic, English and when he has to….also a little bit of French.
Working with foreigners has been his dream since he was a child and participated in the World Challenge project with Moroccan and British children coming all together in Berber villages. Nowadays he lives in Armed, the last village on the road to Toubkal with his wife and parents. He is always happy to welcome travellers to his home, share with them “Berber Whiskey” and a bit of true Berber lifestyle.
When he is not on tour he likes to play football- he is the goal keeper of Aremd team. He is interested in music and travelling. So far he visited a huge part of Morocco and hopes that in future he will have the opportunity to visit other countries as well.

WE DO DIFFERENTLY?

We avoid crowded tourist hotels and places and instead pick small local enterprisesand people who have genuine interest and love for their environment and are very happy to share it with us. We know our partners since a long time and in the meantime a trust between each other has been created. Our partners value cooperation with us and we can rely that the services is perfect. Tasty and diverse dishes are prepared maintaining all hygienic standards and your accommodation will be always clean with authentically designed interiors.

Contact with locals is important to us. We are not scared to stop and have a tea with nomad family or play with school kids during their school break. This is possible thanks to our small groups of maximal 8 travellers. We organise small private groups of same minded people instead off a stereotyped bus full off tourists

If you seek a comfortable one-day trip, couple of day’s tour through the most beautiful Atlas valleys or demanding but unforgettable Toubkal ascent we are here to help you, to be your guides!

Our tours are always fully adapted to your wishes and physical skills. You can choose one of our standard offered day trips or a longer trip between 2 and 21 days, join our free tour or we just sit down and plan together an individual tailor made tour fully adapted to your wishes. It´s up to you!

Lodging, catering, safety

Depending on the tour and weather we you can choose lodging in tourist guest houses, tents or fancy mountains riads.

During the tour we take care of all your meals which are always freshly prepared using local products and with highest hygienically standards on the same time. Keeping clients and their stomachs happy and safe is our rule!

Our guides are certified tour guides and have to be graduates of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Skiing and Mountaineering. They have undergone medical trainings and are always equipped with first aid kits and mobile phones. They have to be natives from the area and track a more year experience working with tourists.

With us you will not just trek the mountains but also experience Berber culture as close as possible. We want you to feel the power of ancient traditions and the togetherness of the mountain Berber people.

That´s also why our staff (cooks, muletiers) are chosen very carefully and they love to work and interact with tourist. In return we make sure they are treated and paid well as we want that both the clients and the team enjoy every moment of our tours!
